Cafe in Cambridge allegedly forced to close over access for disabled people

Esther Leighton, who uses an electric wheelchair, tried to get into the Carlos BBQ, Mill Road Cambridge, on two occasions on 18 August 2016 and 27 September 2016 and was unable to do so because she said there is a threshold and she requires level access or at least ramp access so she can manoeuvre over the threshold. Otherwise it is not safe or sensible.

There have been several court cases and incidents leading up to the above judgement on 8 November 2017, and the Cambridge News reports that Carlos BBQ has been forced to close due to the latest judgement.

Sophia Graham at Towards Access has followed the case and provides background and ongoing details.
